GPA To Percentage Calculator

Enter a GPA or a percentage · pick your scale (4.0 / 10-point) · caculate either way

Convert GPA ↔ Percentage & Percentage ↔ GPA

Pick a converter, choose your scale, and enter your value — the result updates as you type. Conversions use common formulas (GPA ÷ scale × 100 and its reverse, or CGPA × 9.5 on the 10.0 scale). These are approximations — use your institution’s official conversion where one exists.

Calculate GPA to Percentage the Accurate Way

Match your grade point to its letter grade, then read across to the percentage range. This mirrors how the grade was assigned in the first place:

Which Conversion for Which Scale

  • 4.0 scale (US high school & college)
  • 10-point scale (many international systems)
  • 100-point / percentage systems

Whichever you start from, the single rule holds: state a converted GPA as an estimate, and when an application specifies a method, use theirs over any shortcut.

Letter GPA (4.0) Percentage
A4.093/100
A-3.790/92
B+3.387/89
B3.083/86
B-2.780/82
C+2.377/79
C2.073/76
D1.065/69
F0.0Below 65

Converting a Percentage Back to GPA

Going percentage → GPA is cleaner, because a percentage lands squarely inside one grade band. Read the same table backward: find the range your percentage falls in, then take its grade point.

For an overall percentage across several courses, convert each course to its grade point, average them, and you have your GPA directly — no percentage round-trip needed.

WORKED EXAMPLE
Converting 88%
Percentage88%
Falls in band 87–89% = B+
Grade point B+ = 3.3
88% = 3.3 GPA

FAQs

Match your GPA to its letter grade, then read that grade's percentage range from the conversion table. It gives an accurate range rather than a false single number.

No. On the 4.0 scale each grade covers a band of percentages, so any conversion is an estimate. The grade-band table is the most faithful method.

A rough shortcut is GPA × 25, so 3.6 is about 90%. It's reasonable near the A range but understates middle grades; use the grade table for accuracy.

Find the grade band your percentage falls into and take its grade point. For example, 88% lands in the 87-89% band, which is a B+ worth 3.3.

A 4.0 corresponds to an A, which is roughly 93-100% and often cited around 95%. It represents the top grade band rather than one exact percentage.

Converting to a 100-point scale is the same as converting to a percentage. Use the grade-band table to map your GPA to its percentage range.

Only loosely. It's close near the top of the 4.0 scale but reads a 3.0 as 75%, when a B is usually 83-86% nearly a full grade off.

Multiply by 9.5, the common convention: an 8.0 CGPA is about 76%. Some universities use a different multiplier, so check yours first.

Because there's no universal formula and schools set their own cut-offs. Each tool picks slightly different grade bands or multipliers, so results vary a little.
